Pneumovax 23: Recommendation about revaccination
The TGA is advising health professionals not to administer a second or subsequent dose of Pneumovax 23 vaccine pending the outcome of a review of an apparent increased rate of injection site reactions following administration of the second dose.

Measles Notifications
There has been a large increase in the number of notifications of measles cases this year particularly. It is opportune to remind all to ensure that the measles vaccinations are complete and on time to protect not only babies and children but also adults who are not immunised.

Mosquito borne diseases on the rise
Following the recent summer flooding and ongoing rain in NSW there has been an increase in notifications of mosquito borne diseases. All clinicians are asked to be aware of these diseases.

New primary care infrastructure grants
A new round of primary care infrastructure grants has been released to the value of $52.5 million. Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing, Catherine King announced that around 200 grants would be available to GPs wanting to upgrade or extend their existing premises to expand the services they offer their communities. Applications close 2pm Friday 10 June 2011.

Draft e-health records released
The Federal Government released a draft national e-health records blueprint for consultation. The draft Concept of operations: relating to the introduction of a personally controlled electronic health record (PCEHR) system prepared by the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA), provides a summary of how the PCEHR program could be delivered, including the development of key national infrastructure and connections to systems, such as the lead implementation sites. The draft Concept of operations is available at http://yourhealth.gov.au and feedback may be submitted until 31 May 2011.
