Education
A prime objective of NSGPN is to support GPs with ongoing educational activities and assist with meeting their continuing professional development requirements. These activities include events reflecting topics of interest expressed by GPs in our area. The Network also supports the ongoing education of Practice Nurses through regular interactive workshops and seminars.
Other educational initiatives include connecting GPs with community health programs such as youth health forums and ‘GPs in schools’. GPs also play an essential role in educating the local community in healthy lifestyle choices. The Network continually looks for opportunities on behalf of GPs to play a role in preventative health.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a requirement of ongoing medical registration for General Practitioners (GPs). The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) designs and monitors the framework within which CPD is provided. The Network’s CPD program aims to assist GPs to maintain and enhance the quality of care they provide to patients by the implementation of current best practice standards.
The Network's Education Committee, consisting of GP representatives and Network staff develop and implements the CPD program. Member feedbacks is incorporated into the design and content of educational activities.
We offer and support a number of learning modalities: regular CPD events, clinical updates, small group learning, clinical audits and technology updates.
The Network applies for RACGP QI & CPD points for events held. Our CPD support staff are regularly upskilled by the RACGP to ensure they are able to offer you the most recent information in regard to your CPD.
