Information Technology
Information technology (IT) has become a major component of the day to day activities of general practices. From creating clinical records, secure messaging, having an active recall and reminder system and patient management systems, practices are discovering that managing all of these different procedures with the help of a controlled IT environment and the right software, improves their practice.
The implementation of a controlled IT environment means that all the data are stored in a safe location and can be accessed easily and securely. The government is encouraging practices to implement a secured IT environment and is rewarding these practices by different incentives.
The Northern Sydney General Practice Network is dedicated to providing its members with the best IT support whether via regular visits, educational events or general IT advice. The Northern Sydney General Practice Network supports its members by:
- Providing opportunities to be part of the different incentive programs such as the Australian Primary Care Collaboratives (APCC) and assisting with e-PIP
- Recommending different software solutions for different purposes such as secure messaging and patient management
- Helping the practice implement an IT disaster recovery plan and assisting with other aspects required for accreditation.
The Northern Sydney General Practice Network also offers its members regular IT visits. Topics include one on one training with clinical software, demonstrating how the Canning Tool is very important in patient management and how to have an active recall and reminder system.
