The purpose of this policy is to advise that the Initial Management of Closed Head Injury in Adults clinical practice guideline has been updated to reflect the latest evidence based practice for the management of adults with a closed head injury. The policy is to ensure that all Local Health Districts have protocols in place based on the key principles of the guideline. The guideline was developed by the Institute of Trauma and Injury Management, and provides clinicians with practical evidence based recommendations to assist in the initial management of adults with mild, moderate and severe head injury.
